GOA,
March 28th 2005
Here we are just about to set off to Rajasthan
from Mumbai (Bombay) after almost 6 weeks of serious horizontal
living on the beach in Goa...concentrating on our extreme relaxation
on Calangute Beach, stuffing ourselves with beans on toast and
other british culinary delights ... with Jim's Mum and Keith,
and then our friend Lee made it over for two more weeks of...er...relaxing.
We took the Volvo night bus with sleepers from Mapusa and got
dumped at the edges of the city the following afternoon. Bombay
is indeed an extremely interesting city and, because of the
British architectural legacy has an air of London.... under
an intense sun with more than a touch of mayhem and vibrant
colours ... A couple of days after arriving got paint thrown
on us by the friendly locals as part of the Holi Day festivities.
Established ourselves in a little lodge behind the Taj Hotel,
Jim managed to sniff out some old records and other assorted
junk in the Thieves market area around Mutton Street... before
being scouted for a Bollywood soap opera ...
Very
exciting city but a week of this traffic is more than enough
for most so now pushing on to Rajasthan ...

RAJASTHAN,
April 2005
Namaste !
We've
uploaded the latest pictures of our trip around Rajasthan. Taking
in the 'blue city' of Jodhpur, the 'golden city' of Jaisalmer,
a three day camel trek into the Thar desert and 'Holy Rat'`
temple (Karni Mata) of Bikaner.Traveling
a month out of season, 42 degrees in the midday sun, we've taken
Rhaman's advice and travelled "shanti-shanti"... slow
and easy. (well this is horizontal travel innit).
Now
in Delhi and planning the final stretches of our trip, off up
north to the Indian Himalayas ... Himachal Pradesh state (Shimla,
Dharamsala, Mc Leod Ganj) and, hopefully, Leh in Eastern Kashmir
depending on the state of the roads. |
